Persuasive

Persuasive is the last part of 5 articulation skills.

It attempts to convince a reader to adopt a certain point of view or to take a particular action. It needs logical reasoning and solid evidence by sorting facts, using examples, and personal experience.

In this part, a strong introduction and conclusion with a clear and direct structure are required.  In ICAN, we help students to build their persuasive skills by teaching trend knowledge and subject knowledge.

Words play a huge role in helping our brains decide which products to buy or which decision to choose. There are tons of variables, but one thing has been proven time and time again -- certain words help you in persuasion better. They just do.

Challenge and Persuade

Card Game

Developed by a team of scientists from two national laboratories, education researchers, gamers, and a professional game developer, Challenge and Persuade is a highly social, fast-paced, fun-to-play card game in which players compete in applying skills in argumentation. Through game play, players come to understand the many manifestations of how the extreme amplification of the human population—exploding worldwide demand for energy, increasing exploitation of water resources, and alteration of the planet's climate—are tightly intertwined at the nexus of energy, water, and climate; one cannot be considered in isolation from the other two. Development was supported by the National Science Foundation.
